Memecoin tokenomics supply allocation and release conditions

Memecoin tokenomics divides a fixed supply of 69 billion MEME among ecosystem, airdrop, contributor, investor, community, advisory, and Binance Launchpool allocations. Each category has its own release arrangements. The allocation percentages describe the full supply, while unlock timing and actual claims affect how much MEME reaches circulation. Unclaimed entitlements remain separate from tokens holders have already received.

A supply chart answers different questions from a claim balance or market valuation. The distinction concerns who receives an original allocation, when its restrictions end, and how much of the allocation reaches holders.

Bottom line: Allocation percentages describe the full MEME supply, while release conditions and outstanding claims determine which portions holders can access.

Original allocations and circulating balances

The allocation breakdown describes the original distribution, while circulating supply measures the tokens available in the market and supplies the quantity used in market capitalization. A claim balance concerns a narrower entitlement under a particular distribution program. The full allocation for a recipient group does not establish the amount its members can claim immediately. Release conditions govern availability, and previous claims reduce the remaining entitlement.

How is the 69 billion MEME supply allocated?

The 2023 launch allocation assigns 30% to the ecosystem, 25% to airdrops, 17% to contributors, 12% to investors, 11% to the community presale, 3% to advisory, and 2% to Binance Launchpool. The amounts below express each share in MEME using the full supply as the denominator.

Allocation Share and MEME amount Release or distribution condition
Ecosystem 30% - 20,700,000,000 MEME Ecosystem claim schedule applies
Airdrop 25% - 17,250,000,000 MEME Eligible holdings and released entitlements
Contributors 17% - 11,730,000,000 MEME Contributor claim schedule applies
Investors 12% - 8,280,000,000 MEME Private sale terms apply
Community 11% - 7,590,000,000 MEME Fire Sale lock-up terms apply
Advisory 3% - 2,070,000,000 MEME Own category-specific unlocking schedule
Binance Launchpool 2% - 1,380,000,000 MEME Limited to the announced campaign pool

A category name does not give every MEME holder an entitlement to its tokens. Ecosystem and contributor allocations have their own claim arrangements, while the community allocation refers to the presale. The advisory category remains distinct from contributors.

Released allocations and outstanding claims

Released tokens have passed the applicable lock-up restriction; an outstanding claim describes the released entitlement its holder has not yet collected.

For the original NFT airdrop, the remaining amount excluded any portion a previous holder had already claimed. A transfer of the NFT therefore did not replenish its allocation. Eligibility also applied at each claim date, including possession of the qualifying NFT or the wallet bound with Wallet Maps. Release status alone did not settle those conditions.

The community sale specified daily vesting

The Fire Sale terms dated 7 November 2023, version 1.3, specified an initial release of 25% of purchased tokens no later than 14 days after the sale period ended. The remaining 75% had a daily linear release schedule spanning 18 months, starting within that same post-sale window. Those percentages applied to the purchase allocation covered by the Fire Sale terms. They did not describe fractions of MEME’s entire supply. The schedule governed release eligibility; it did not establish when every purchaser actually collected tokens. Its timing also did not automatically apply to private investor allocations.

NFT airdrop terms defined a separate release split

The Memeland airdrop terms dated 7 November 2023, version 1.2, assigned different release treatment to Maps and Valuables and to NFTs. Maps and Valuables accounted for 20% of that campaign’s airdrop distribution. The terms set full release of this portion for Token Launch Day. NFTs accounted for the other 80%, with release at the campaign organiser’s discretion. Each percentage used the airdrop distribution as its denominator.

Those airdrop terms did not apply the Fire Sale’s daily release formula. The organiser also retained an emergency stop for airdrop distribution. A date on a sale schedule therefore could not establish the release date of an NFT-linked entitlement.

Vesting schedules and distribution controls

SlowMist’s MEMECOIN audit covering 7-13 September 2023 described configurable claim schedules and owner controls in the reviewed MemecoinClaim design. Those controls concerned distribution contracts, with specific conditions on individual functions.

Schedule configuration

The reviewed contract separated schedule data from claim activation.

Category-specific release settings

The owner could call setClaimSchedules only while claims were not open. Its inputs paired claim types with their schedules, preserving separate release configurations within the contract.

Claim activation and start date

The functions setClaimActive and setClaimStartDate required owner authority. These controls existed alongside the schedule configuration, so a published allocation percentage did not itself establish whether claiming was active.

Withdrawal conditions

The reviewed withdrawClaimToken function required both owner authority and a state where claims were not open. This historical code review does not establish the configuration of every later deployment.

Fixed supply and circulating dilution

MEME has a fixed total supply of 69,000,000,000 tokens. Releases concern availability within that supply. A rising circulating balance can therefore coexist with an unchanged total.

Circulating dilution describes the effect of additional tokens becoming available relative to the amount already circulating. It does not require an increase in the original supply ceiling. Allocation percentages answer how the full supply divides among categories; circulating percentages answer how much of that supply a particular measurement includes. Confusing those denominators can make an unchanged distribution plan appear to have changed.

Claim activity adds another variable to the release calendar. Uncollected entitlements can create a gap between scheduled availability and actual circulation.

Does a scheduled unlock guarantee market selling?

A scheduled unlock does not establish that recipients sold MEME, because release eligibility and a completed market sale describe different events. An unlock can expand the amount recipients may access, while their decisions determine whether those tokens reach a trading venue. A transfer into another wallet also does not identify its purpose. Selling pressure concerns tokens offered to buyers and the demand available to absorb them. Neither the allocation chart nor a calendar entry establishes those market conditions.

Market capitalization and fully diluted valuation

Market capitalization and fully diluted valuation use different supply quantities, even when both calculations use the same MEME price.

Market capitalization uses circulating supply

Market capitalization equals the MEME price multiplied by its circulating supply. Both inputs need a consistent measurement time. Using the full 69 billion allocation in this calculation would substitute a different metric. An old circulating figure combined with a recent price would also mix observations from different periods, even if the arithmetic remained correct.

Fully diluted valuation uses the maximum supply

Fully diluted valuation multiplies the MEME price by the maximum supply of 69 billion tokens. It values the full supply at one price without predicting the price when every allocation becomes available. It also does not measure money invested in MEME or proceeds every holder could receive. Market demand and executable trading liquidity can change as supply becomes available, so the calculation supplies a valuation basis rather than a liquidation value.

Stakeland rewards use separate accounting

Stakeland describes staking MEME, collecting Steaks, and participating in project reward distributions, with farming token claims following each project’s unlocking schedule. Those reward schedules apply to their respective project tokens. They do not replace the original MEME allocation breakdown or establish a uniform release rule for its categories. Its Staking contract description concerns MEME staking, while FarmClaim handles project-token rewards. A staked MEME balance, Steaks, and an outstanding project-token claim therefore represent different objects. Counting all of them as additional MEME would confuse participation accounting with token supply.

Claim expiry does not establish a token burn

The 2023 airdrop terms tied each claim window’s end to 69 days after full release of the relevant distribution. They defined separate periods for Maps and Valuables and for NFTs. Their full-release triggers therefore mattered; an unrelated tranche becoming available did not establish a shared expiry date.

After the respective period, holders forfeited rights to released but unclaimed airdrop tokens. The organiser could decide their subsequent treatment. That provision did not require an automatic burn or a corresponding reduction in total supply. The Fire Sale terms also set a claim deadline 69 days after full release of all Fire Sale tokens. After that deadline, purchasers forfeited rights to released but unclaimed tokens, and the seller could decide their treatment.

Common questions about Memecoin tokenomics

Were MEME’s community and private presales priced differently?

Both presales used $0.001 per MEME in the launch figures dated 27 October 2023. This was a historical issuance price, with different supply allocations for the two rounds. It does not establish a current trading price, a resale floor, or a redemption value. A later market quotation describes a different transaction from either original presale.

Is the 2% Launchpool allocation an annual yield?

The 2% Launchpool allocation described a share of MEME’s total supply reserved for a specific launch campaign. The announced farming period ran from 28 October to 26 November 2023, in UTC. It did not promise participants a 2% annual return on their deposits. Individual campaign rewards followed the participating pool’s balance and reward calculation rules.

Which MEME maximum applied to an unrevealed Captainz NFT?

An unrevealed Captainz NFT used the Human maximum of approximately 685,816.52 MEME under the 7 November 2023 airdrop terms, version 1.2. After reveal, the listed maximum followed the NFT’s trait category. The organiser retained discretion over the actual allocation. This figure described a maximum entitlement, with release conditions and previously claimed amounts affecting the outstanding balance.

Why does the allocation chart not identify MEME’s largest current holder?

The allocation chart groups tokens by their original distribution purpose and recipient category, without identifying current ownership. Subsequent claims and transfers change wallet balances without changing those original category percentages. A category can include multiple recipients, and one wallet balance does not automatically identify one beneficial owner. Current ownership therefore requires information beyond the launch allocation chart.

Can the MEME presale claim contract cover both community and private allocations?

The published presale claim setup covers both community presale and private sale allocations. Sharing a contract does not establish identical release terms for both groups. The Fire Sale’s staged release applies within that sale’s documented scope. A private allocation still needs its own applicable schedule.
